The funeral party left the house, about five miles north west of town at 10 o'clock. The pastor, Walter Reynolds conducted the services. The burial was in Oak Shade Cemetery. The following sketch of the life of this christian woman was read at the funeral. Miss Louise Katherine Debrie, daughter of Jacob and Judith Debrie, was born at St. Julian, department of Doubs, county of Montbellard, France, in the year 1825, the 22nd of January. At the age of fourteen she took the confirmation of the Protestant Church and has remained a member of that church until after she removed to America. After removing to this country being unable to understand clearly the languaged used in English preaching she remained at home and read the book of sermons presented to her by her St. Julian Pastor, Louis Berger. In 1846 she was married to Frederic J.G. Roy at St. Julia. They then remained in France till 1854. After crossing the ocean they settled in Striker, Ohio, remained there one year and removed to Dubuque, living there ten years. They then came to Marion where they have made their home ever since. In 1861 death called her husband to that better land. Last Sunday at half past eight o'clock she followed her husband, breathing her last as an infant child goes to sleep. She leaves to mourn her loss three children, namely, Mrs. Katherine Lovey residing in France, Mrs. Louise Munler and Mrs. Lucy Touro of Marion; one sister aged ninety two years, living at Riverside Iowa, and twelve grandchildren. She was a kind and devoted mother, a loving sister, and always willing to help those who begged for hospitality at her door."
