Louise Weber was born Feb. 8, 1919, to Carsten Jr. and Frieda (Schmidt) Hansen northwest of Tilden. Louise Margaret Hansen graduated from Neligh High School in 1936. Louise married Theodore Weber on Feb. 8, 1942. During the first three years they were married, they traveled from coast to coast while Theodore was serving in the Army. Louise Weber graduated with her teaching certificate from Wayne State College in 1970, the same year as her middle son, Donald Weber. Louise taught students in a rural school system for many years, as well as kindergarten and fourth grade in Neligh Public School for 21 years. She lived all her life in Elm Township of Antelope County. In 2006, Louise was honored by receiving the Outstanding Alumni Award. Louise served in numerous offices during her many active social and service years: the Antelope County Teachers Association, the Neligh American Legion Auxiliary, the Antelope County Farm Bureau and the Nebraska Farm Bureau Committees. She wrote a weekly column for local newspapers for many years. Louise Weber also coordinated Legion events, such as Memorial Day observances and school-related talks. In October of 1984, High Plains Journal named Mrs. Weber the Nebraska Regional Agri-woman of the Year during their competition. Louise was a lifetime member of Peace United Church of Christ at Tilden. Louise was baptized and confirmed within the Peace UCC Church. She was very active in the Peace United Church Women's Fellowship. Louise also was a Sunday school teacher and an ever faithful servant of God. Louise Weber was a member of the Oakdale Town and Country Club, serving some of those years as president. She was still an active member of the Oakdale Country Club until the time of her passing. After the fellowship and songs, often the members would enjoy a social lunch and card playing. Louise was a very talented player, often ending up with High or Traveling. Louise also enjoyed many years of activity and socialization at the Neligh Senior Citizens Center where she frequently enjoyed meals, the companionship, visiting with other seniors, and playing 6- or 10-point Pitch. Louise was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Clarence Hansen; her husband Theodore; and one son, Robert Dale Weber. Louise Weber is survived by two sons, Ronald and wife, Diana F. Weber of Tilden and Donald Weber and Louise Remm of Davenport, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Diana G. Weber of Tilden; five grandchildren, Jeff and Sue Weber of Grafton, Wis., Nancy Weber of Omaha, Amber and John Beals of Orlando, Fla., Stacy and Jason Johnson of Lawrence, Kan., and Renee and Clint Olson of Wayne; one great-granddaughter, Madison Beals; one brother, Walter Hansen of rural Neligh; and many nieces and nephews.
