Graduated from Immaculate Conception Conservatory in Dubuque, where she studied music and also taught. Studied organ choir and choir-conducting at Loras College in Dubuque. From 1940 to 1952 was president and-or secretary of Loras Institute of Liturgical Music, which fostered knowledge of the proper performance and understanding of church music. Read More	Extracted from full obituary in The Times Herald, Carroll, IA, Nov. 1, 1989, Wednesday, Louise Marie von Florencourt, who dedicated her life to studying, teaching and performing religious music, died at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. Graduated from Immaculate Conception Conservatory in Dubuque, where she studied music and also taught. Studied organ choir and choir-conducting at Loras College in Dubuque. From 1940 to 1952 was president and-or secretary of Loras Institute of Liturgical Music, which fostered knowledge of the proper performance and understanding of church music. In 1956 she established the Chironomy Study Club, which met to study the liturgy and church regulations concerning music in the liturgy. In 1957 she organized and directed the St. Pius X Music Workship for church musicians and parish choirs in the diocese. In 1958 Pop Pius XII bestowed on her the gold medal "Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice" for outstanding work in promoting excellence in the church's music. In 1967 Holy Spirit Parish awarded her a gold plaque for lifetime service devoted to church music, and in 1971 the Diocesan Youth Organization honored her with its adult award. She was active in community groups; co-chairman of the 1957 City of Carroll Cancer Drive, promoted the Carroll Civic Music Association, was a charter member and on the board of directors of the Carroll County Historical Society. She was also a member of the Holy Spirit Women's Guild, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the American Legion Auxilary, Friends of the Library, the Carroll Toastmistress Club, St. Anthony Regional Hospital Auxiliary and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
