Louise Marzen was born Jan. 11, 1904, in New Hartford, a daughter of Eugene and Christine (Lutz) Schumacher. She married Andrew N. Marzen on July 28, 1926, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dougherty. Louise grew up in the Marble Rock area. She and her husband farmed near Dougherty for 41 years. She enjoyed sewing and loved to make clothing for her grandchildren. She also loved baking and gardening. Survivors include three sons, Bernard Marzen and his wife, Margaret, Dougherty, Leo Marzen and his wife, Bernadine, Dougherty, and Gerald Marzen and his wife, Dolores, Marble Rock; two sisters, Mary Knudtson, Rockwell, and Florence Multhauf, Stewartville, Minn.; one brother, Eugene Schumacher, Charles City; and 22 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrew, on Aug. 8, 1989; one brother, Marcus Schumacher; and two grandchildren.
