Mrs. Pigg for many years has been one of our best known and esteemed women and in her passing, every soul in Massena feels the loss of a kind, personal, and true friend. She was one nature's noble women. The funeral will take place at the M. E. Church this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Victor Johnson assisted by Rev. J. A, Nayle. The internment will be in the Massena Cemetery. The singing will be by Messrs. Art Harper, C.R. Robinson, and Amos Warfield and Mesdames Aden Hosfelt, Wray Wilson, and J. A. Nayle and Miss Emma Wollenhaupt. Louisa S. Fuerst was born February 18, 1852 at New Philadelphia, OH and died on April 1, 1919 at age 67, 1 month, 11 days. She was the oldest of four children, the others who are now living are Edward Fuerst of Washburn ND, Mrs. Belle H. Joy of Anita IA, and Helen Arnold of Massena IA. When a small child, Louisa Fuerst moved with her parents from Ohio to Merrimac, WI. On April 5, 1872 she was married to George B. Pigg. To this union were six children born. Two of these died in childhood and four are now living: Rueben of Cumberland, IA, Charles of Atlantic IA, Arthur and Cleo of Massena IA. About the year 1878, Mrs. Pigg, with her husband and one child came to Iowa and made their home in Cass County. Mr. Pigg, the husband, was called by death eight years ago last February. The older settlers of Whitneyville who are now living will not soon forget the many fine deeds of Mrs. Pigg and her husband. At their home there was a welcome to those in need of a true friend. At their home the latch string was always out to any worthy people in distress.
