Read More	AUGUSTA - Louise Staples Giroux, 85, died peacefully on Dec. 27, 2013, at MaineGeneral Medical Center surrounded by her family. Louise was born in Howland on April 24, 1928, the daughter of Edwin E. and Effie (Crocker) Staples. She was a Cony High School graduate in the class of 1946 and attended Gates Business School. She had been employed 45 years by the state of Maine, 13 years with the Maine State Police and 10 years with the Maine Legislature. After her retirement from the state, she was employed by the federal government working for the Social Security Administration and later for the Federal Highway Administration. Louise was a communicant of St. Michael Parish and when her children were young, she taught CCD classes. She took pride in her gardens, was an avid reader and loved the coast of Maine. Foremost Louise loved her family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. Louise was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Donald J. Giroux, in 2003; and her six brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her two sons, James D. Giroux, of Augusta, and his children, Kristina Giroux and her two children, Jasmine and Kolby, of Augusta, Adam and Bryant Giroux, of Chelsea, and son Tedd J. Giroux and his wife, Susan (Redman) Giroux, and their son, Christopher Giroux, and his fiancee, Nicole Sherman, both of Augusta. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and two special sisters-in-law, Judy Staples and Jeanette Giroux. The family would like to thank the outstanding staff in the Emergency Department and in CCU for their care and compassion at such a difficult time. A committal service will be at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery Chapel, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. (Kennebec Journal 12/31/2013)
