Description	:	Louisa Shearer, whose maiden name was Louisa Elkins, died on the 11th day of January. 1905, at 9 o'clock p.m., in Pomeroy, Wash., at the home of her son, Levi Shearer. Louisa Elkins (misidentified as Elkens) was born in Indiana, October 25, 1832. When in her 18th year she was united in marriage to Thomas Bridgewater, with whom she lived until the time of his death, January 30th, 1862. To this union two daughters and one son were born. Read More	Louisa Shearer, whose maiden name was Louisa Elkins, died on the 11th day of January. 1905, at 9 o'clock p.m., in Pomeroy, Wash., at the home of her son, Levi Shearer. Louisa Elkins (misidentified as Elkens) was born in Indiana, October 25, 1832. When in her 18th year she was united in marriage to Thomas Bridgewater, with whom she lived until the time of his death, January 30th, 1862. To this union two daughters and one son were born. One daughter died, in infancy, the other now Mrs. Darland resides on the Alpowa ridge, in this county, and the son W. W. Bridgewater, formerly of this county now lives at Milton, Oregon. On October 5th, 1862, the subject of this sketch, and Joel Shearer were married, and remained husband and wife until the death summons again deprived her of the one whom she had chosen as a life companion. In 1864 Mr. and Mrs. Shearer crossed the plains to Oregon with an ox team. About 28 years ago, they came from Oregon and settled on the Alpowa ridge, where Mrs. Shearer remained until three months ago, making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Darland. Four daughters and three sons were born to Mr. And Mrs. Shearer, and of this family three daughters and one son survive her viz Levi Shearer, of Pomeroy; Mrs. D. R. Lewis and Mrs. Schmeil of this county and Mrs. W. A. Tetrick, of Cudlesac, Idaho. During the last three months Mrs. Shearer lived at the home of her son in Pomeroy. Many years ago Mrs. Shearer became a. member of the Christian church, and Rev. Benton, pastor of the church in Pomeroy, conducted her funeral service.
