Description	:	The daughter of Ira and Lureda Mix, Lovida Beverly was one of a family of eight children and survived all the members of her family. Her father was a member of the Vermont legislature in 1808-9 and was captain of a company of soldiers which he organized and commanded in the war of 1812. When she was but five years of age the family moved to western New York, near Bolivar, Allegheny county. In the years preceding her marriage she was a school teacher and on March 13, 1833, was united in marriage to Philetus Beverly at Bolivar, N.Y. When she was but five years of age the family moved to western New York, near Bolivar, Allegheny county. In the years preceding her marriage she was a school teacher and on March 13, 1833, was united in marriage to Philetus Beverly at Bolivar, N.Y. In 1844 they journeyed by wagon and boat westward as pioneers to Illinois, settling at Harrington near Chicago until 1868. They again joined the tide of immigration westward and came to Burlingame, Kan. For five years they lived on the farm two miles west of town. Since that time they have been active factors in the town's history. Mr. and Mrs. Beverly were blessed with nine children: Ira Mix the eldest and Mary the youngest died in infancy. Cassius, a member of Co E, 52nd 111. Art., died of exposure at Fort Donnelson in the 1860s. Mrs. Laura Aldricb died in 1896 and Woodbury P. of Burlingame passed after. The four surviving children were Mrs. Lurenda Smith of Ottawa, Milton M. of Chicago, and Dwight C. Beverly and Mrs. Ella Doty of Burlingame.
