May 25, 1944 Mr and Mrs Lowellwood Wiant (Beulah McDonald) are announcing the birth of their first child, a son Sunday afternoon May 21 in Stouder Hospital. The infant has been named Keith Richard. June 22, 1944 Lowellwood Wiant, Christiansburg, who was recently inducted into the army, has been sent to Camp Blanding, FL, for 17 weeks of basic training. Oct 19, 1944 Pvt Lowellwood Wiant of Camp Blanding, FL, is enjoying a furlough with his wife and baby Jan 18, 1945 Mrs Llowellwood Wiant has received word from her husband Pvt Wiant that he has arrived safely overseas and is somewhere in France. Pvt Wiant entered the service in June, 1944. He received basic training at Camp Blanding, FL. He left the states in Nov for overseas duty. Before entering the service, he was employed at Grimes Mfg Co. Feb 1945 -- Stationed in France with the 7th Army March 1, 1945 PFC Lowellwood Wiant has been awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge for exemplary conduct in action in France and has also been promoted to his present rank of private first class. He is now with the 411th Infantry in France June 7, 1945 Mrs Lowellwood Wiant has received letters from her husband Pfc Lowellwood Wiant stating that he is in the Alps mountains in Austria. He is at present living in a home that has modern conveniences and he has a comfortable bed which he has not had in some time. His work is taking care of captured ammunition. The 411 Inf Regt of which he is a part was the first in Italy to meet the Fifth Army. The same group captured Goering. Dec 1950 -- suffered a broken left arm in a fall the past week while at work in Springfield Was a coach for the Christiansburg Little Leagues Councilmember for Christiansburg Village Worked at Grimes. In 1981, received a 40 year milestone award Maintenance supervisor for Wittenberg University, retired in 1985 Member of Mt Olivet Chapter 266 Free and Accepted Masons, where he had attained the honor of being a 32nd degree Mason, the Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton
