Jay was united with the Braddyville Church in 1907. Married Minnie Caroline Baker of Elmo, MO on 14 Apr 1887. Jay lived most of his life in Page County, IA, except for a few years near Elmo, MO. He was one of the older pioneer citizens. Married Minnie Caroline Baker of Elmo, MO on 14 Apr 1887. Jay lived most of his life in Page County, IA, except for a few years near Elmo, MO. He was one of the older pioneer citizens. The younger generation loved to hear him tell of his years on the farm, working at the livery stable, years ago running a taxi service in Braddyville, IA and many other experiences. During the war years, when he was in his 70s he worked at the Clarinda Mental Heath Institute "MHI'. He had lived his life alone till about three weeks prior to his death and he moved into his daughters home. He still had a keen and alert mind, had all his arrangements made and they were carried out to his plans. Jay will be long remembered as an independent kind, loving and thoughtful Grandpa Jay, and dear friend to many of those that remain. Preceding him in death: Wife: Minnie Caroline Baker Barnhill Surviving Family; Daughter: Granddaughter: Drusilla Grace Anderson Ashford and husband Pete of Braddyville, IA 5 Grandchildren & 7 Great-Grandchildren. Nephews: Warren Barnhill of Goggon, IA Earl Long of Jefferson City, MO Art Long of California Nieces: Mrs William Johnston of College Springs, IS Mrs Fred Payton of Sac City, IA Services were held at the Braddyville Christian Church with Rev I E Stickelman officiating, burial was in Braddyville Cemetery.
