Description	:	CHAPIN - Lieutenant Harold Lloyd (H.L.) Gerrald passed away on Monday, January 18, 2016. He was born on June 30, 1934 in Horry County of parents, John H. Gerrald and Ina P. Gerrald. He was predeceased by his brother, E. LaRue Gerrald. He was loved and adored by his wife of 51 years, Virginia Gerrald; and children, L. Mitchell "Mitch" Stephens (Patricia) and Angela "Darlene" Stephens; and granddaughter, Lindsey E. Bible; as well as many other family members and friends. He was born on June 30, 1934 in Horry County of parents, John H. Gerrald and Ina P. Gerrald. He was predeceased by his brother, E. LaRue Gerrald. He was loved and adored by his wife of 51 years, Virginia Gerrald; and children, L. Mitchell "Mitch" Stephens (Patricia) and Angela "Darlene" Stephens; and granddaughter, Lindsey E. Bible; as well as many other family members and friends. He graduated from Green Sea Floyds High School in 1952 and went on to serve in the US Navy from 1952 to 1956. The bulk of his career spanned over thirty years on the SC Highway Patrol from 1958 to 1989 where he earned the rank of Lieutenant. He was an active member of Chapin Presbyterian Church. H.L. was a 32 Degree Freemason and was inducted into the fraternity over 50 years ago in Charleston. Most recently he was a member of the Jamil Shrine Temple in Columbia. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Chapin Presbyterian Church, 600 Old Lexington Hwy., Chapin, SC 29036 conducted by Reverend Tim Hanley. Entombment will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Chapin Presbyterian Church, 600 Old Lexington Hwy., Chapin, SC 29036.
