Description	:	Larry was the son of Hiram W. Bleeker and Lillian A. Bleeker of Ames IA. He was commissioned as a 2d Lieutenant in the Marine Corps Reserve, and entered on extended on March 24, 1967 in Quantico VA. With orders for overseas duty in Vietnam he arrived in Da Nang and was assigned as a Platoon Commander to Company E, 2d Battalion, 4th Marines, 3d MARDIV (Rein) FMF. With orders for overseas duty in Vietnam he arrived in Da Nang and was assigned as a Platoon Commander to Company E, 2d Battalion, 4th Marines, 3d MARDIV (Rein) FMF. On October 26, encountering heavy contact with NVA forces near the vicinity of Gio Son in the Gio Linh District of Quang Tri Province, Company F moved to reinforce Company G, moving forward in team rushes. Subsequently two platoons from Company E in relief of their comrades continued on the attack. During the battle with the NVA forces three Marines from Company E were killed in action as a result of contact with the enemy.
