Description	:	ALBERT HENRY HOWELL; Albert Henry Howell a retired Air Force officer, died Sept.13 2003, at St. Anna's Residence in New Orleans. He was 82. He was born in Boonford, NC., the son of the late Frank B. Howell and Julia Young Howell. He graduated from Bowman High School in 1938. During WWll, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a bomber pilot in Europe. After the war he was a flying instructor and later an aircraft commander with the Strategic Air Command. He was born in Boonford, NC., the son of the late Frank B. Howell and Julia Young Howell. He graduated from Bowman High School in 1938. During WWll, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a bomber pilot in Europe. After the war he was a flying instructor and later an aircraft commander with the Strategic Air Command. He also pursued a college degree, graduating from Oklahoma A&M University in 1955. After retiring from the USAF in 1965 with the rank of Lt. Col. He was a flight instructor with TWA at their Kansas City headquaters, and later operated a small business in Kansas City before retiring to Mitchell County. He attended Bakersville Methodist Church and was active in the Mitchell County Historical Society. He was also active in Shriner and Masonic organizations while living in Oklahoma and Kansas. He moved to New Orleans in 1999.12:30 p.m. Saturday He is survivied by his wife Lucille Thomas Howell of Spruce Pine N.C.; two daughters Rosemarie Coffman and Merry V. Toups of New Orleans; and son Thomas S. Howell of Kansas City, Mo., another son Frank D. Howell, died in 1999. He is also survived by a sister Adelaide Bowlin of Kansas City, Mo. and three grandsons. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bakersville Methodist Church with the Rev. David Lee officating. The family will receive friends on hour prior to the service at the church. The graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Rebels Creek Cemetery and will be conducted by the VFW post 8060. Henline-Hughes Funeral Home, Bakersville,N.C. is in charge of the arrangements.
