Description	:	Lieutenant Colonel Archie D. Rodgers Jr. of Georgetown died Wednesday, May 22, 2013. LTC Rodgers was born June 29, 1915, in Greenville, S.C., the son of the late Archie D. Rodgers and Eliza Busbee Rodgers. He was a member of First Baptist Church, and a member of Winyah Masonic Lodge No. 40. He was also a member of the Georgetown Historical Society and a member of the Friends of the Kaminski House. Rodgers Jr. of Georgetown died Wednesday, May 22, 2013. LTC Rodgers was born June 29, 1915, in Greenville, S.C., the son of the late Archie D. Rodgers and Eliza Busbee Rodgers. He was a member of First Baptist Church, and a member of Winyah Masonic Lodge No. 40. He was also a member of the Georgetown Historical Society and a member of the Friends of the Kaminski House. LTC Rodgers was a member of the National Guard Association of South Carolina and of the United States. He was a charter member of the Field Artillery Society of the South Carolina Militia. LTC Rodgers enlisted in Battery E, 115th Field Artillery, Sumter, SC, on October 17, 1933. He retired from the National Guard on June 28, 1975. After retiring, he volunteered for 17 years at the blood bank of Georgetown Memorial Hospital. LTC Rodgers was predeceased by his first wife, Alfy Jackson Rodgers; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Heaston; two grandchildren, Kelly McPherson and Winston O. "Winky" Miller; a stepson, James D. Miller Jr.; and a sister, Selene R. Poole. He was survived by his wife, Cornelia Rowe Miller-Rodgers of Georgetown; six children and stepchildren, Col. Archie David (Jerry) Rodgers III of Fairfax Station, Va., Barbara (Warren) Parkerson of Burke, Va., Nancy (Randy) McPherson of Irmo, SC, Charlie R. (Wendy) Miller of Summerville, SC, Marsha M. (Johnny) Wilson of Georgetown, and Vida O. Miller of Pawleys Island; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Memorial services were Saturday, May 25, 2013, in First Baptist Church of Georgetown. Dr. Ted Sherrill officiated. Inurnment followed in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Graham Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
