Description	:	Lucille Hawbaker, 86 passed away February 5, 2006 at Karen Acres Nursing home where she has been an Alzheimer's patient for over nine years. She was born September 30, 1919 In Waukee Iowa to James and Clara Bass. After graduating from Simpson College, Lucille taught school at Clio, Iowa. In 1941, she married Verle E. Hawbaker and moved to rural Dallas Center where they raised their three daughters. After marrying Verle she did substitute teaching. Read More	Lucille Hawbaker, 86 passed away February 5, 2006 at Karen Acres Nursing home where she has been an Alzheimer's patient for over nine years. She was born September 30, 1919 In Waukee Iowa to James and Clara Bass. After graduating from Simpson College, Lucille taught school at Clio, Iowa. In 1941, she married Verle E. Hawbaker and moved to rural Dallas Center where they raised their three daughters. After marrying Verle she did substitute teaching. She was a lifetime member of the Waukee United Methodist Church and also a member of the Waukee Women's CIub, the Iowa Orchid Society and a 4-H leader. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, orchids and teaching ceramic classes in her home. Her family and her flower garden were her greatest joys. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Verle Hawbaker; three daughters, Ruth Green of West Des Moines, Linda (Jim) Brain of Newton and Faye (Dennis) Shelley of Urbandale; five grandchildren, Mike Green, Kelley Teno, Tracy McGee, Robyn Webster and Tony Brain; plus three great-grandchildren. Lucille was proceeded in death by her parents and two brothers. Memorial contributions can be made to the Waukee United Methodist Church or the Aizheimer's Association or Iowa Hospice in Johnston. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at Waukee United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Waukee Cemetery. Visitation begins after 3 p.m. Tuesday at Waukee United Methodist Church where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. ARRANGEMENTS BY ILES FUNERAL HOMES ~ BRANDT DALLAS CENTER CHAPEL.
