Curda, 87, of David City, died Sunday, January 18, 2009 at the Butler County Health Care Center, David City. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Assumption Catholic Church, Appleton, Nebraska. Burial in the church cemetery. Lucille was born April 20, 1921 on the farm near David City to William C. and Barbara (Kastner) Yindrick. She married Frank Curda November 28, 1944 in Assumption Catholic Church, Appleton, Nebraska. For a short time she worked as a clerk at Schwesers Clothing Store. Her true occupation in life was as a dedicated homemaker who always had a meal ready for all the farm helpers and anyone else who was in the area at dinner time. She instituted the Angus Cattle herd on the farm and helped maintain the herd for more than 55 years. Lucille belonged to the American Angus Cattle Association for many years. She also loved to maintain her rose garden from which she supplied floral arrangements to the church. She was the church organist at Assumption Appleton for more than 60 years. She also enjoyed dancing, being outdoors tending the farm and livestock. Her special times included spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lucille is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Barbara and Roger Svoboda of David City, two grandchildren: Carmen (Mike) Foltz of Humphrey, Nebraska and Ryan (Heidy) Svoboda, David City; six great-grandchildren: Tristen, Lance, Bryn and Evan Foltz; Calib and Sydni Svoboda. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank in 1999, a brother: Louis Yindrick and two sisters: Helen Svoboda and Alice Krondak.
