Lucille was born on January 10, 1922 to Frank and Clara (Kampfe) Maack at the Maack family home, north of Cozad. Lucille was the youngest of 6 children. Lucille was born on January 10, 1922 to Frank and Clara (Kampfe) Maack at the Maack family home, north of Cozad. Lucille was the youngest of 6 children. She graduated from Cozad High School in 1939 and attended business school in Omaha for 2 years. Lu married Ralph Rasmussen on July 12, 1952 at the Westchester Methodist Church in Los Angeles, CA. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Cindy in 1957. The couple moved to Denver a year later, where Lu became a full-time mother and homemaker. She later worked in sales part-time at the Denver Dry Goods, Joslins, and her favorite, a small gift shop called The Rambling Rose. Lucille had numerous accounting and clerical jobs over the years having worked at a Chevy dealership in Cozad and the University of Wyoming. Lu also worked and lived with her sister Mickey, in Atlanta, GA, and later worked at Douglas Aircraft, in Southern California. Lu enjoyed many camping and RVing trips with her husband, Ralph. They enjoyed sightseeing, hiking, biking, and visiting family and friends in Nebraska and Arizona. The couple later moved to Sun City, AZ, where they lived for 7 years before moving back to Denver to be closer to family in 2004. The couple had lived at Windsor Gardens, before residing at the Heritage Club in 2011, where they enjoyed the many benefits of meals, entertainment and socializing with many new friends. Lu and Ralph celebrated their 50th Anniversary in Vail, CO in July 2002, hosted by Michael, Cindy and Taylor Staughton at their restaurant, Los Amigos. Many of their family and friends attended from Colorado and Nebraska. They were planning for another big 60th celebration this summer. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Roy; two sisters, Mildred Maack and Bernice Norris. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Rasmussen of Denver, CO; daughter Cindy (Michael) Staughton of Vail, CO; grandson, Taylor Staughton of Vail, CO; 2 brothers, Clarence and Lawrence Maack; 6 nephews, Roger (Peggy) Maack and Dean Maack all of Cozad, Jerry (Alice) Norris of Omaha, Gary (Janice) Maack of Greeley, CO, Gene Maack of Ravena, NE; Ron Garrelts of Santa Rosa, CA; 4 nieces, Donna Sinor of Niwot, CO, Kay Seyler and Norma Loibl of Greeley, CO, Sharlyn Hurst of Aurora, CO; a sister-in-law, Betty Baker of Cozad and many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad. Inurnment will be in the Cozad Cemetery. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of arrangements.
