Description	:	Lucille J. Howson of West Bend, died on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at the Health Care Center of Cedar Community at the age of 89 years. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 25 at 12 noon at 5th Avenue United Methodist Church with Rev. Jon Bartlett officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Union Cemetery in Clinton, IA. Read More	Lucille J. Howson of West Bend, died on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at the Health Care Center of Cedar Community at the age of 89 years. Visitation will be at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend on Sunday from 3 until 7 p.m. and also Monday at the church only from 11 until 11:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family as requested memorials to Cedar Community Hospice or She was born Aug. 7, 1917 in Clinton, Iowa to the late Herman and Helen (nee Chatterton) Goers and married Roy E. Howson on June 19, 1938 in Low Moor, Iowa. Roy predeceased August 24, 1999. That same year, they moved to Beloit, WI where they resided for the next 28 years. Not only was she a wonderful Mom, she became very active as a Pythian Sister with the Beloit Lodge No. 40, ultimately becoming the Grand Chief for the state of Wisconsin in 1955/56. She then joined the work force to help put her two boys through school. Excelling in everything she did, in 1964 she was crowned the Beloit Credit Woman of the Year. In 1966 they moved to West Bend where she was soon employed at the West Bend Company. Affectionately known as Mother Superior by those that worked for and with her, she finally began to enjoy retirement in 1979, but missed the ladies at the office. In 1981, she then organized the West Bend Women's Retirees Group that still meets today at various area restaurants. Golf, travel, bridge all became her passions as well as visiting her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lucille and Roy have been members of the 5th Avenue United Methodist Church since moving to West Bend 40 years ago. She is survived by two sons, Dick with his wife Linda Howson of Redmond Washington and her other son Roy Howson, Jr. of So.Beloit Illinois, her two sisters Marian Johnston of Clinton Iowa, Hannabelle Cork of Danville, Illinois two grandsons Richard and Robert and 4 great-grandchildren who also live with their families in Washington State and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by two sisters Merrette and Margaret who both succumed to the flu epidemic of 1918.
