Rowe's, on last Saturday morning at 9 o'clock. Mrs. Diggs commenced life with the present Century, having been born on the 4th of April, 1800, and was therefore in her 87th year. She was born in Culpeper county, and was the daughter of James Cash. After her marriage with Wm. Diggs, she settled in Louisa County where she lived for many years and until her removal to Spotsylvania. Her husband was a soldier... Rowe's, on last Saturday morning at 9 o'clock. Mrs. Diggs commenced life with the present Century, having been born on the 4th of April, 1800, and was therefore in her 87th year. She was born in Culpeper county, and was the daughter of James Cash. After her marriage with Wm. Diggs, she settled in Louisa County where she lived for many years and until her removal to Spotsylvania. Her husband was a soldier in the War of 1812, and for the last years of her life, she received a pension from the Government which was a great help to her. She was a woman of strong constitution and great activity, and all through her long and industrious life was remarkably healthy. She was noted for her kind disposition, her tender care of the sick and suffering, her upright life and her steady adherence to truth and honesty. While not a member of any Christian church, she claimed a personal interest in the Saviour, and trusted in Him to the hour of her death. She leaves a son and daughter, and many grandchildren to mourn her death. The devotion and tender care bestowed upon Mrs. Diggs by her daughter for the past twenty-five years, who has maintained her and provided a home for her, is worthy of special mention and emulation. May she be richly rewarded for such devotion. Mrs. Diggs was buried in the Confederate Cemetery on Sunday evening, her remains being followed to the grave by a large procession of sorrowing friends.
