Lucinda Rose, third child of Thomas and Susan F. Rose, was born in Quaker City, OH., Sept. 4, 1860 and passed away at her home near Victor, Iowa, Dec. 13, 1931, aged 71 years, 3 months and 9 days. She was the third child in a family of 10 children and is the second one to pass away. She came to Iowa with her parents in the early "Eighties" settling with a number of other Iowa families near Guernsey in Poweshiek county. She was united in marriage to C. E. Stanbro in 1890 and came to live on the Stanbro homestead near Victor, which had been her home since that time. She was converted at the age of 20, uniting with the Methodist Episcopal church and has been a faithful, consistent Christian ever since. For 51 years she was a regular and faithful attendant at all church activities so far as her health would permit. She was a faithful companion to her husband, a wise and loving mother, a kind and obliging neighbor, and was loved by all who knew her. She bore her long illness with patience, fortitude and Christian resignation to the will of God. She is survived by her children, Mrs. Jessie Jewell of Anderson, MO., Mrs. Alma Harrison of Portland, OR., James E. of Cummings, IA., Mrs. Mabel Bigler of Hale Center, TX., Alton of Guernsey, IA., and Orville, at home. Besides these she leaves 17 grandchildren, two brothers and six sisters, as well as a host of friends to mourn their loss.
