Mrs. Nelson having called Hooper her home for sixty years. Luncida Pittman was born at Ohio, Ill., November 23, 1856, and passed away at her home at Hooper on September 9, 1940, at the age of 83 years 9 months and 16 days. Coming to Nebraska as a young girl, she was united in marriage to the late H. Gregory Nelson at Schuyler in September 1874, and the couple lived for six years in Colfax county before coming to Hooper in 1880 to make their home through all these long years. Mr. Nelson preceded his wife in death about sixteen years ago, since which time she had continued to keep up the home for herself and her son, Charles, being very able for her age and taking pleasure in her household tasks. Mrs. Nelson was the mother of five children, three of whom survive to mourn the passing of a devoted home-loving mother. whose first concern was never for herself but always for the welfare of her family. The three surviving children are Mrs. Paul Rabbas, Oliver Nelson and Charles Nelson all of Hooper. She is also survived by six grand children, one great grandchild and three sisters, Mrs. Mulvina Starmer, Glencoe, Mrs. Eva Starmer, Crowell, and Mrs. Mattie Naylor, Callaway. Her last brother, John Pittman, of Crowell, preceded his sister in death only a couple of weeks ago. Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at two o'clock from the Methodist church with Rev. W. N. Smitheram as the minister in charge. Burial under the direction Wollmer & Warne will be made in the Hooper cemetery.
