Cone, well known to most of our citizens, died in Marion on Tuesday night. The Marion Weekly Sentinel January 19, 1871 DIED. In Marion, Jany 10, 1871, Lucius L. Cone aged nearly 23 years. Known in Marion from early boyhood he was universally respected as a young man of good principles and correct habits. Cone, well known to most of our citizens, died in Marion on Tuesday night. The Marion Weekly Sentinel January 19, 1871 DIED. In Marion, Jany 10, 1871, Lucius L. Cone aged nearly 23 years. Known in Marion from early boyhood he was universally respected as a young man of good principles and correct habits. He had resided in Cedar Rapids the past five years having been employed there in the Banking business in which he continued till failing health compelled him to relinquish it which he did only six weeks previous to his death. On May 19th, 1870, he was Married to Miss Mary Waples of Dubuque but his happy union of youthful, loving hearts was of very brief duration and his companion is thus left in early youth to the loneliness of widowhood. He also left parents, one only sister and five brothers to mourn his loss--this being the first death in the family. Three years ago he professed hope in Jesus' blood and united with the Baptist church in Cedar Rapids of which he continued a member till his death. He died in the full assurance and composure of the christian's hope, talked calmly of death and exhorted, those of his brothers, who have no hope to prepare to meet him in Heaven. His funeral was attended in the Baptist church in Marion on Thursday Jan 12th, by a large congregation among whom were a large number from Cedar Rapids whose high esteem for the deceased brought them here to pay this last tribute of respect.
