CROWELL DIED AT OKOBOJI PASSED AWAY AT HOME OF DAUGHTER ON THURSDAY EVENING Mrs. Lucretia C. Crowell passed from this earthly life at 9:45 Thursday evening, June 25th after several years of intense suffering. While the greater part of the time she has been able to get about the house with help yet for six years she has been constantly cared for at the home of her daughter, Mrs. West. About six weeks ago Mrs. West went to Minneapolis and Mrs. Crowell was taken to the home of another daughter, Mrs. George Arp in Okoboji. She seemed to be no worse until Sunday evening when there was a decided change. Everything that medical skill and loving hands could do was done for her comfort, but she gradually grew weaker until the end. Lucretia C. Burton was born in Rockville, Park County, Indiana, April 29, 1836 and passed away June 25, 1925, age 89 years, 1 month and 26 days. She came to Butler County, Iowa in a covered wagon with her parents in 1851. She was carried [sic] to Robert T. Crowell December 24, 1854 and lived on a homestead in Butler Co., where she endured the hardships of early pioneer days. She passed through several Indian scares. Nine children were born to Mrs. Crowell, three of whom are living. Mr. and Mrs. Crowell moved to Spirit Lake in the spring of 1881 and lived on the farm south of town. Since the death of her husband she has made her home with her children. She was with her youngest daughter, Mrs. George Arp until about six years ago when she came to make her home with her oldest daughter, Mrs. E. J. West She leaves to mourn her death her three children, John H. Crowell of Minneapolis, Mrs. E. J. West of this place and Mrs. George Arp of Okoboji besides ten grand children and twelve great grand children. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church of which she was a member Sunday afternoon, Rev. J. H. Edge in charge and burial in Lakeview Cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. John H. Crowell of Minneapolis were in attendance at the funeral. ***** This obituary was clipped from a local paper and put into a family bible. The name of the newspaper is unknown.
