She departed this life January 20, 1909. She came with her parents to Missouri during infancy. Was married to Mr. J.L. Whiles about 56 years ago. He whas been dead 26 years. To this union eight children were born. Five are now living, namely; Mrs. Mittie Walker of Macon Co., Mrs. Josie Clark of Woodlawn, Mr. Clyde Whiles of near the home, Mr. Millard and Miss Dora Whiles, both single and lived with there mother until her death. Mrs. Whiles professed religion 35 years ago and united with Union Grove Baptist Church of which she was a member at the time of her death. She had been an invalid for 20 years. Had been confined to her room for the last 13 months. She was buried at Union Grove. Funeral services conducted by Rev. M.L. Heifner of Macon. This ends the career of a good woman. She rests from her labors and her work will follow her. Her children will rise up and call her blessed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Obituary (Macon (MO) Republican, Jan. 30, 1909)- Mrs. Lucy Ann Whiles, nee Butner, a highly respected citizen, died at her home three miles east of Woodville, Jan. 20, 1909, aged 74 years. She was born in Madison county, Ky., and moved with her parents to Missouri when but an infant. She was married to J. L. Whiles about 56 years ago. He has been dead 26 years. Eight children were born to this union. Those living are: Mrs. Mittie Walker of Macon county, Mrs. Josie Clark of Woodlawn, Mo., Mr. Clyde Whiles, who lives near the old home, and Mr. Millard Whiles and Miss Dora Whiles who lived with their mother. Sister Whiles professed religion 35 years ago and united with Union Grove Baptist church five miles south of Clarence, to which she belonged at the time of her death. She had been an invalid for 20 years and had been confined to her room for the last 13 months. She was buried at Union Grove, Jan. 25. Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, M. L.
