LUCY ANNA LUDWIG (dws note:is LUDWICK) Lucy Anna, daughter of Austin and Clarissa Rice, was born in Marseilles, Ill., on July 22, 1862, and passed away at her home in Neligh September 23, 1935, aged 73 years, two months and one day. She was united in marriage to Emanuel Ludwig in Jasper county, Iowa, in 1879. (dws note: she married Jacob Emanuel Ludwick 31 Aug 1897) To this union eight children were born, two of whom, James Austin and Ethel, died in infancy. The living children are Dr. U. E., Thomas, Otis and Goldie Ryan of Omaha, Allen of Loretto and Eva Hicks of Neligh. One sister, Carrie Trease of Kellogg, Iowa, and two brothers, William and Charles Rice of Neligh, survive her. She leaves also two stepsons, Richard Ludwig of Omaha and Charles Ludwig or York. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive her. Mrs Ludwig and her husband were old settlers of Nebraska. Mr Ludwig was a veteran of the Civil war. Funeral services in charge of Guv Dunning, Christian minister, were held at Barnum's chapel on Thursday morning, September 26, and in the afternoon at Creston Before moving to Antelope county the family resided at Creston. Before moving to Antelope county the family resided at Creston many years. Burial was made beside her husband in the Creston cemetery.'
