Child, 67, died Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mable Barbour in Grant township and the funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon, at the Adams funeral home in Ames, after which the body will be brought to Nevada and interred in the local cemetery. Mrs. Child was for many years a resident of Nevada, before the family moved to Ames about fifteen years ago. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edw. Crippen, pioneers of this city, came here from New York sate with them as a girl and it was here that she was married to R. L. Child and here that their family of children was born and raised. She leaves besides her husband, two sons and four daughters. The eldest son Edward Child [should be Edgar Child] died a number of years ago. The surviving sons are Frank of Ames and Earl of South Dakota, while the daughters are Mrs. Emma Darnell of Indianola, Mrs. Alice Hewitt of Des Moines, Mrs. Mabel Barbour of Grant township and Mrs. Blanche Perry of Des Moines. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Elmer Smay of this city. Mrs. Child is remembered in Nevada as a splendid wife and mother, a neighbor of sympathetic and kindly disposition and a woman who was much respected.
