Mrs. Lucy Viands, who has been in feeble health for a number of months and sustained a stroke of paralysis, two weeks ago died at 2:30 a. m. on Monday at the home of her son, Walter Viands, near Springfield, this county, where she resided for years, Mrs. Viands, who had attained the age of 82 years, 2 months and 6 days, was very ill about four months ago but had rallied considerably before stricken with a fatal attack of paralysis. The deceased was a daughter of the late Russell Presgraves, of this county. She leaves two sisters, Mrs. Eddie Evans of Luray and Mrs. John Gander of Bunceton, Mo. Her children are Walter Viands and Mrs. Wilber Kibler, of Springfield district, Page County, Elon Viands and Mrs. Carey Rector of Washington, D. C. and Mark Viands of Alexandria. Her husband P. M. Viands has been dead for a number of years Mrs. Viands spent practically her entire life in Springfield district. She was a member of the Methodist Church from early life. A woman fine understanding and much strength of character, she was a capable and devoted mother, while her life was that of sainted Christian womanhood. The funeral will be held from the Springfield Methodist Church at 2 p. m. today with burial at Beahm's Chapel. All of the children are expected to be present.
