Aug. 30—Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Mahalia Osborn will be held from the Methodist church Thursday afternoon at 2 p. m. conducted by the Rev. Eugene McClure. Mrs. Osborn's maiden name was Huntley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Huntley, and was born in Berry county, Missouri, on Aug. 8, 1841. Her parents moved to near Chicago, Ill. when she was quite young. Her father died when she was six years old. She lived near Chicago until she was 16 years of age. Then she moved with her mother and stepfather to Putnam county, Missouri, in 1857. There she met and married Hiram Osborn on Oct. 4, 1860. Mr. Osborn enlisted in Co. G. Missouri Mounted infantryman as bugler. During the duration of the war Mrs. Osborn resided with her mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Phillips, in Putnam county, Missouri, In 1871 she and her husband moved to McDonough county, Illinois, where they lived for five years. After leaving Illinois they visited around for quite a while and then came to Appanoose county. Last March 7 was 56 years since coming to Appanoose county and this county has been her home ever since. About 30 years of that time she has lived in Cincinnati. Mrs Osborn was the mother of nine children, four of whom survive her. She was a woman of sterling by a host of friends and acquaintances. ~~~ CENTERVILLE DAILY IOWEGIAN AND CITIZEN, Centerville, Appanoose County, Iowa - Sep 6, 1933 Mrs. Lucy Osborn Mrs. Lucy Huntley Osborn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Huntley, was born August 8, 1841, in Perry county, Missouri. When but a child she moved with her parents to near Chicago, Illinois. Her father passed away when she was but six years'of age. In 1857, at the age of 16 she moved with her mother and step-father to Putnam county, Missouri. There she met Hiram Osborn with whom she was united in marriage on October 4, 1860. To this union were born nine children. Two daughters, Mary Ellen and Ida Frances, and three sons, Perry, Alonzo and Lewis have preceded her in death. Mr. Osborn enlisted in Co. G, Missouri Mounted Infantrymen as bugler and served the duration of the war, during which time Mrs. Osborn resided with her mother and step-father Mr. and Mrs. Dean Phillips, in Putnam county, Missouri. In 1871 she and her husband moved to Illinois where they lived for five years. In 1877 they came to Appanoose county, where Mrs. Osborn has lived the last 56 years of her life. She passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Best, at 12:30 Tuesday morning, August 29, 1933, with her four children by her bedside. She was 92 years and 21 days of age. She was preceded in death by her husband April 25, 1911. She leaves of her loved ones four children, A. W. Osborn of Seymour, Iowa. John E. Osborn and Mrs. Olive L. Best of Cincinnati, and H. B. Osborn of Grinnell, Iowa: also 26 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Osborn was known and loved by. a large circle of neighbors and friends who will greatly miss her. She professed faith in Christ and united with the Christian church in her youth. After coming to Appanoose county, she transferred her membership to the Livingston Baptist church which was the church then near her home. Card of Thanks.
