Mrs. Clifton was born Jan. 18, 1912, in Stokes County to James Columbus Mabe and Etta E. Lawson Mabe. Mrs. Clifton formerly worked for Armtex in Pilot fMountain. She was a homemaker and a member of Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-laws, Marie and Harold Bowman of Pilot Moountain, Shirley and Eugene Bryant of Pinnacle and Martha and James C. Miller of State Road; a son and daughter-in-law, James Moir and Lorraine Rogers of Fenton, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; her sisters and brother-in-law, May Mabe of Lawsonville, Disie and Otis Smith of Asheboro and Murpy Rodgers of Pinnacle; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Dewey and Lucy Mabe and Aunice and Lois Mabe, all of Lawsonville, Hoover and Darlene Mae of Kernersville and Denny and Peggy Mabe of Walnut Cove. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Clifton was preceded in death by her first husband, Berkley Weldon Rodgers; her second husband, James Carl Clifton; a son, Leonard Coolidge Rogers; a sister, Nellie Stewart; and a brother, Handy Mabe, The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11 at Howell Funeral Chapel of Pilot Mountain, conducted by Elder J.H. Keaton and Elder Joey Jenkins, with interment to follow at Pilot Mountain City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 10, at Howell Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain.
