Description	:	Lucy May Cope was born October 3, 1874 in New Sharon, Iowa to Dawsey and Adaline Riggs Cope. She came in early childhood with her parents, to make their home in Kansas, and all of her schooling was received in Barton County. On May 3, 1893 she was married to William Marquis and to this union 11 children were born. Three daughters; Mary Jane, Georgiana and Retta died young. Read More	Lucy May Cope was born October 3, 1874 in New Sharon, Iowa to Dawsey and Adaline Riggs Cope. She came in early childhood with her parents, to make their home in Kansas, and all of her schooling was received in Barton County. On May 3, 1893 she was married to William Marquis and to this union 11 children were born. Three daughters; Mary Jane, Georgiana and Retta died young. In the early 1920s she joined the United Brethren Church and remained a faithful member until her passing. She was initiated into the Rebecca Lodge on May 12, 1936, and became an active member. On May 21, 1946 at Wichita, Kansas she was married to Ed Culver. She passed away Sept 11, 1952 at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 8 days. She was ever a loving mother and wife, and will be greatly missed. Left to mourn her passing are five daughters; Esther Carroll, Myrtle Hammond, Elsie Cole, Evelyn Morley and Ruth Myers; three sons, Wilfred, Albert and Walter; seven step-children; sixteen grand children; four great grandchildren; one brother and a host of other relatives and friends.
