Per Death Record - Mahaska Co. Book 2 Page 142. Lucy Hoy died on April 21, 1938 of Cerebral Hemmorage at Abbott Hospital in Oskaloosa, at the age of 53 years, 10 months, and four days. Burial was April 23, 1938 at White Cemetery, Oskaloosa, IA. Per Death Record - Mahaska Co. Book 2 Page 142. Lucy Hoy died on April 21, 1938 of Cerebral Hemmorage at Abbott Hospital in Oskaloosa, at the age of 53 years, 10 months, and four days. Burial was April 23, 1938 at White Cemetery, Oskaloosa, IA. (NOTE: Lucy's stone indicates she is buried in Forest Cemetery in the Hillcrest Garden section Lot 67 next to her husband Wilbur Hoy per Carol Nollen who placed the photo on this site). With the exception of two years lived at Fremont, Nebraska, the greater part of her life was spent in Mahaska Co. She was converted and baptized when a child, at her early home in Jamestown, N.D. She united with the Central Methodist church of this city on October 16, 1910 under the ministry of Rev. McClelland. She was an active member of the church until failure of her health made the work impossible. She was an active member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union. She attended and graduated from Oskaloosa high school in 1904 following which she was a student at Penn college for three years. In 1908 she was graduated from Cornell college. She was married in Oskaloosa on January 6, 1908, to Wilbur Hoy. Four children were born to them including Earle, Wilbur, Richard and Eleanor Mayer. Her death is the first in the brothers and sisters who include Miss Mary Pendray, John H., William J., George and Edward Pendray. She has been suffering from a heart ailment for a number of years which resulted in her death. She is survived by her husband and 4 children. Newspaper clipping (?Oskaloosa Herald 1938)
