Died at Todd Creek [sic] From the Blairmore Enterprise of October 6, 1916 (P1), via the Peel Library of the University of Alberta website: Man Accidentally Shoots Himself An unfortunate accident occurred about four miles from Todd Creek [sic], north of Lundbreck, about 6 p.m. on Friday last, by which Louis Husic and his wife were out hunting for rabbits with a 22-calibre repeating rifle. After firing twice at a rabbit and extracting the second shell, Hucik attempted to route [sic] the animal out from under a tree by the back stock of the rifle, holding the gun by the barrel pointed towards his body. The trigger tripped in some object and the bullet entered his body just below the breast, touching a vital spot in the heart and resulting in almost instant death. The man had only time to gasp and say "I'm shot." His wife was terror stricken. She tried to pick her husband up but could not, and by the time neighbors were summoned to the scene the body was cold and lifeless. Coroner Pinkney was summoned from Blairmore and was accompanied to the scene by Dr. MacDonald and a couple of members of the mounted police. An examination revealed that death was caused by the accidental discharge of a gun. The body was conveyed to Blairmore on Monday, where interment took place at the Roman Catholic cemetery, Rev. Father Beaton, of Bellevue, officiating.
