Description	:	Medford, Ore. - Luella Ann Bobzien, 90, of Medford, Ore., formerly of Ellendale, N.D., daughter of Matt and Gunda (Hove) Whelan, was born in Elm Township, Dickey County, N.D., Nov. 11, 1916. She grew up on that farm and attended rural school. She was 1 of 10 children. Read More	Medford, Ore. - Luella Ann Bobzien, 90, of Medford, Ore., formerly of Ellendale, N.D., daughter of Matt and Gunda (Hove) Whelan, was born in Elm Township, Dickey County, N.D., Nov. 11, 1916. She grew up on that farm and attended rural school. She was 1 of 10 children. In 1932, her father was elected Dickey County Sheriff, and the following year they moved into Ellendale, where she attended high school and college until she married LaRoy D. Bobzien Sept. 12, 1935. They lived close to where LaRoy taught rural school in Forbes, N.D., until they moved into Ellendale, where they resided until 1999 when they moved to Medford, Ore. Rosemary Margo was born April 1, 1938, and Carole Ann was born Aug. 21, 1943. In March 1951, Luella began working in the Dickey County Auditor's Office until 1958. When Ernie King retired, she ran for and was elected Dickey County Register of Deeds, until 1982 when she retired. Luella was a homemaker, a professional and above all, mother and grandmother. Her family was the light of her life and she delighted in following all activities and spending time with them. Luella died at Rogue Valley Medical Center, Medford, Ore., on Oct. 8, 2007. Grateful to have shared in her life are her two daughters, Rosemary Hill, Bismarck, N.D.; Carole (John) Trammell, Ashland, Ore.; five grandchildren, Stephen Hill, Bismarck, N.D.; Elizabeth (Shannon) Potter, Tucson, Ariz.; Margo (Curt) Burrill, Medford, Ore.; Heidi (Jay) Christensen, Medford, Ore.; Jessica (Bret) Cromwell, Bend, Ore.; two sisters, Virginia Thorpe, Riverside, Calif., Delia Schweitz, Napa, Calif.; one brother, Darwin (Harriet) Whelan, Dickenson, N.D.; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 71 years; brothers Gilbert, Mick, Denny, Merle (Buzz); and sisters Hazel Theede and Florence Moore. Visitation: Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale. Funeral: Presbyterian United Methodist Church. Officiating: Pastor Ken Adams. Casket Bearers: Robin Bobzien, Darwin Whelan, Steven Hill, Mickey Thorpe, Rusty Merkel, Jim Johnson.
