A graduate of Puyallup High in 1940, she married Francis Marcoe in 1943. A member of the "Greatest Generation," Mom was an independent woman who worked in and outside the home. Read More	Luella A. Marcoe April 15, 1922 - September 2, 2014 Luella was born April 15, 1922 in Rosebud, ND to John and Teckla Hayes. A graduate of Puyallup High in 1940, she married Francis Marcoe in 1943. A member of the "Greatest Generation," Mom was an independent woman who worked in and outside the home. Her hard work ethic started after high school graduation and lasted for over forty years at business such as Polhman's Variety Store, Vande Camp's Bakery, Rod's Bakery as a wedding cake decorator, and in 1966 she was instrumental in opening up Penney's at the Tacoma Mall. She retired from JC Penney's in 1981. During her years of employment outside the home, Luella made many dear friends and remained close to those friends throughout the years. She loved her 40' Girls Unions (1940 PHS grads) every month - over the years many "40 girls" would get together to reminisce about the way it used to be and how it should still be. Luella's number one hobby was watching baseball games, any baseball game, it didn't matter. She knew the game well - more than most coaches knew the game - according to Luella! All you had to do was just ask her, and she would tell you why a team won or lost. Most of the time she was right and nobody dare question. Mom never complained because it was never ever about her. Mom was the epitome of giving and caring unconditionally about others all the time. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, one brother, her high school sweetheart and dear husband Francis, and her precious daughter Luanne. She leaves her son Ed, his wife Sue, grandson Matthew, and granddaughter Rebecca. Luella adored her two grandchildren. Her ideas regarding grandchildren were what your parents don't give you I will. Matthew and Rebecca LOVED their grandmother! A private graveside service will be at Sumner City Cemetery. Mom, Grama, we love you and we will all dearly miss you. YOU WERE THE BEST!
