Kelley, 90 March 25,1902 — May 12,1992 WOODBINE — Luella Esther Park Kelley was born March 25, 1902 in Dolton, IL, to Frank and Mathilda (Stomp) Park. As a youngster, she was baptized in the Methodist Church. The family moved to Iowa in 1910 to a\| farm southeast of Dunlap. She attended rural schools in Harrison County completing the 8th grade. She married Thomas W. Kelley at the Methodist parsonage in Harlan, Nov. 30, 1921. They farmed west of Panama, until moving to Harrison County in 1942 when they purchased their farm east of Woodbine. Seven children were born to this union. They retired and moved to Woodbine Feb. 1963. Tom died Nov. 29, 1982. She died at Rose Vista Nursing Home May 12,1992, where she had lived for five months. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Weiss Post #143. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Alvin; a daughter-in-law, Edna; one granddaughter, Wanda Baumgardner and two brothers, Earl and Francis. She is survived by two, daughters, Opal Toxword of Omaha, NE.; Lois (Robert) Schraeder of Woodbine; four sons, T. Earl (Claire) of Panama; George (Imy) of Co. William, or Bill, as he was commonly known, was born in Pennsylvania and came to Iowa with his parents in a covered wagon. Their first winter in Shelby County was spent in a dugout in a creek bank in Section 7 of Washington Twp. Etta Weatherill was born in Canada, later moved to South Dakota, and then came to Iowa with her parents, the Thomas Weatherills. Here she married Mr. Kelley, and lived on a farm near Woodbine, Iowa, in Douglas Township~ The family moved to Shelby County, near Panama, in 1898, when Tom was two years old. They lived on this farm for thirty years before buying another near Harlan Thomas Kelley's brothers and sisters are: Blanche Benjamin of Dunlap, Mae Behrendt, Mabel Heimerman, and Walter Kelley of Harlan. Brothers Charles and George are deceased On Nov. 30, 1921, Tom Kelley married Luella Park a the Methodist Church in Harlan. Luella's parents were Frank and Tillie (Stomp) Park. Frank was born in County Antrum, Ireland. He came to the United States when he was 21, and settled near Chicago where he married Tillie Stomp. They came to Iowa in 1910, and settled on a farm near Dunlap. Luella's brothers and sisters are: Francis and Jennie, of Woodbine; and Earl (deceased), who lived a Crown Point, Indiana. Tom and Luella farmed near Panama until the spring of 1942, when they bought a farm east of Woodbine. Here they lived until 1963 when they retired and moved to Woodbine. Their children are: Opal Toxword, born Dec. 2, 1922, of Omaha, NE; Walter, born July 21, 1924, and wife Doris, of rural Woodbine; Earl, born Jan. 2, 1926, and wife Claire, of rural Panama; Alvin, born Nov. 27, 1927, and wife Dorothy, of Mundelein, Illinois; Don, born Sept. 29, 1929, and wife Janice of rural Woodbine; George, born Sept. 10, 1932, and wife Imogene, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Lois, born Sept. 2, 1934, and her husband Robert Schraeder, of Woodbine. Tom and Luella have 26 grandchildren and 24 great~ grandchildren. All of their sons and sons~in~law have served in the armed forces, as did Tom during WW I. Luella still resides at Woodbine. Tom passed away on Nov. 29, 1982, one day before their 61st wedding anniversary. His burial was at the Woodbine Cemetery.
