Va., about 1 o'clock p.m., March 18, 1909. She walked out into the yard, reached down to pick up some chips and fell over. They carried her into to the house, called a doctor and everything was done that could be to restore consciousness, but all in vain. Highland Recorder April 2, 1909 Mrs. Lula McLaughlin died at her home at Spring Creek, W. Va., about 1 o'clock p.m., March 18, 1909. She walked out into the yard, reached down to pick up some chips and fell over. They carried her into to the house, called a doctor and everything was done that could be to restore consciousness, but all in vain. She lingered about two hours, then entered the realms of the blessed. The doctor said that when she stooped over a blood vessel on her brain, burst, which caused paralysis. Lula was born March 29, 1866, was married to R. L. Matheny, of Highland county, March 24, 1886, and married to George H. McLaughlin Nov. 5, 1907. She leaves one son, Wallace, and many friends and relatives to mourn her departure. Lula was truly a woman of beautiful christain character, the writer having lived with her for 18 years, Annie Matheny Highland Recorder May 17, 1907 We are in receipt of a letter from Mrs. R.L. Matheny, Spring Creek, W. Va., which says: I can not think of doing without the paper. I love to get the Highland Recorder. She renews her subscription for another year.
