Read More	From The Nashua Reporter, Nashua, Iowa, 31 July 1929 LULU FISHER DROWNED WHILE BATHING IN RIVER THURSDAY Body in Water Less Than Half Hour But Spark of Life Could Not Be Revived - Funeral Saturday Another tragedy, the sad death by drowning, occurred here last Thursday, July 25, when Lulu, the 14 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fisher, met death in the river in the south part of town. She had gone to the river with her mother, her aunt, and a cousin, Miss Blanche Matthews, about 3 p.m., and they had been in the water but a short time when the two girls atttempted to wade across the river and got into a deep hole, and although both girls could swim some, the swift current at this point in the river swept the Fisher girl under and to her death. The Matthews girl succeeded in getting back to the shallow water. Help was at once summoned and all three of the Nashua doctors and many citizens were quickly at the scene of the tragedy, and the body was recovered in about twenty minutes after it went down, by Art Hall, an employee of the Bullen garage. Every effort was made to bring back the spark of life but without avail, though the doctors and firemen and others used the pulmoter and worked faithfully for an hour or more. Lulu, eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fisher, was born at Bradford, Iowa, May 11, 1915, and died July 25, 1929, at the age of 14 years, 2 months and 14 days. She was her mother's constant helper, and besides aiding her mother, she had also assisted this summer at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Mary Edgeton, whose eyesight is failing. She was in the seventh grade of the public schools. Surviving besides her parents are three brothers and two sisters, and many other relatives. Funeral services were held at the Congregational church Saturday at 2 p.m., Rev. J.L. McCorison officiating, and intermet was in Greenwood Cemetery.
