Mrs. Higdon was taken ill a week ago Sunday with appendicitis and died last Sunday morning. The body was taken to Britt on Tuesday, where the funeral and interment took place. Mrs. Higdon, nee Lulu VanSchoyck, was raised in this vicinity and was married to William Higdon. She leaves a brother, Edward Van Schoyck, of Roberts, and Miss Myrtle Harper of Waterloo, Ia. Article from the "Courier" of Gibson City, Illinois dated 17 Feb 1916: Roberts Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Vanschoyck, of Clarence, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Harper of Waterloo, Iowa, Mrs. Charles Miller and Messrs. William and David Vanschoyck, all of Gibson City, relatives of Mrs. Higdon, who were all here during her illness, left for their several homes Monday.
