Description	:	Obituary from "Ottumwa Weekly Courier, February 2, 1887: DIED DIMMITT - At half past six o'clock Saturday evening, January 22, 1887, LURA ETTA, daughter of Robert and Lydia Dimmitt, aged four years, five months and five days, at her home in Dahlonega township, of membranous croup. Death at all times seems cruel, but never so terrible and renlentless as when it suddenly hushes the play, the prattlings, the childish glee of a pure, spotless, lighthearted and promising being, making desolate the hearts of fond parents, sisters, brothers and friends. Read More	Obituary from "Ottumwa Weekly Courier, February 2, 1887: DIED DIMMITT - At half past six o'clock Saturday evening, January 22, 1887, LURA ETTA, daughter of Robert and Lydia Dimmitt, aged four years, five months and five days, at her home in Dahlonega township, of membranous croup. Death at all times seems cruel, but never so terrible and renlentless as when it suddenly hushes the play, the prattlings, the childish glee of a pure, spotless, lighthearted and promising being, making desolate the hearts of fond parents, sisters, brothers and friends. For four days, the little one bravely suffered. Everything was done to save the flickering life that human aid could devise, but He who rules all things willed it otherwise, and as the sun descended upon the dying week, the little spirit was ushered into the unseen world, freed from the trials, temptations and tribulations of this life. On Monday morning at eleven o'clock, loving friends and relatives gathered 'neath the roof which had sheltered their favorite through four years of sunshine and happiness, to tender their last testimonial of affection to one in whom their fondest hopes had centered. After an appropriate sermon by the Rev. F.W.O. Wiggins, all that was mortal of little Lura was tenderly carried to the resting place which shall be her's until the final day when she shall arise to take her place among the precious jewels in His Kingdom. We wove a wreath together, Composed of five sweet flowers; Four sisters and one brother In that little home of ours. We had a wreath all woven And all was bright and fair; But, ah! the wreath is broken The brightest flower's not there. Our darling little treasure, The one we loved so dear; We looked on her with pleasure, We loved her voice to hear. We no longer hear the chatter Of her rosy lips so sweet, We no longer hear the patter Of our little Lura's feet. We ne'er can see the ringlets That clustered 'round her head; But we always will remember The little words she said. How oft her little arms Were entwined around our necks; How oft have we caressed her And called her "little pet." All else in death has faded, But one little curl of hair That so oft her brow has shaded, Hung in golden ringlets there. From her brow we sheared it When death had set its signet there. How dearly do we prize it, That curl of golden hair. That little plant so dear, To us by God was given; It only bided here, But is blossoming in Heaven.
