Mr. Bowers was a native of Carter County and the son of the late John Arthur and Mary Nidiffer Bowers. Mr. Bowers was a native of Carter County and the son of the late John Arthur and Mary Nidiffer Bowers. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie Ada Myers Bowers; his second wife, Fronie Blevins Ballard Bowers; his stepmother, Sallie Bowers; two brothers, Floyd Bowers and Clifford Bowers; and three sisters, Josie Hyder, Mae Smith and Juanita Bowers. Mr. Bowers was an active member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church and a retired supervisor with Hoover Ball Division in Erwin. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II. BOWERS -- Funeral services for Luther Bowers, 77, formerly of 1957 Dave Buck Road, Johnson City, who died Saturday, July 6, 2002, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Stout and the Rev. Mark Lundy officiating. Music will be under the direction of Dean Pulmer. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, at Highland Cemetery.
