Description	:	Moyer, Luther Jacob, 67, well known East Luray resident, died at the Page Memorial Hospital at 2 p. m. Wednesday, 23 Nov 1949, where he had been a patient only a day. During the past year, Mr. Moyer, in declining health had been in the hospital at various times. Rev. James G. Horn officiated at the last rites which took place Friday afternoon at 2:30 from St. Mark's Lutheran Church, of which he was a member. Interment took place in Green Hill Cemetery. During the past year, Mr. Moyer, in declining health had been in the hospital at various times. Rev. James G. Horn officiated at the last rites which took place Friday afternoon at 2:30 from St. Mark's Lutheran Church, of which he was a member. Interment took place in Green Hill Cemetery. The late Mr. Moyer as a retired blacksmith & extensive property holder in Luray. Until the late twenties he operated a blacksmith business on Main Street near the present Leggett's Store site. It was founded by his father, the late John J. Moyer, 50 years ago. Born on 14 Jul 1882 in Luray, he was the son of the late John J. & Annie Beahm Moyer. He was never married. For many years he had been a member of the Masonic Lodge and many years ago he had taught school at the little Fairview School. Surviving is a brother, Virgil A. Moyer of Waynesboro & a number of nieces & nephews. Deceased brothers & sisters include Irvin E. Moyer, Edward R. Moyer & Mrs. Anna Fox. Serving as pallbearers at the last rites were: Warren Moyer, Willie Kibler, E. H. Mullinax, Amos Moyer, J. T. Campbell & A. A. Nunn. The honorary pallbearers were S. L. Printz, E. C. Berrey, R. L. McKim, W. F. Judd, Elmer Grove, Maywood Cornwell, Dr. M. Sherry, C. L. Hawkins, Clyde Modesitt, H. H. Hudson & R. L. Printz. Among relatives & friends from a distance attending the obsequies were: Mrs. Fannie Moyer & Hassell Moyer of Mt. Ranier, Md., Lynwood Moyer of Baltimore, Md., Virgil Moyer, Miss Ellen Moyer & Joe Moyer of Waynesboro, T. A. Moyer of Washington, DC., Mrs. Claude Clayton & Mrs. John Artz of Strasburg. (PNC)
