Description	:	Luther Morton Edmunds, the son of George W. and Harriet Annetta Harris Edmunds was born June 13, 1888, near the small village of Bellair, Ill. And died at the Ringgold County Hospital March 3, 1976, at the age of 87 years, 8 months, and 18 days. He received his education from the public school in Bellair. He was united in marriage to Lettie Olga Cooley Dec. 12, 1906. Nine children were born to this union. The family resided on a farm near Bellair until 1924 when they moved to Robinson, Ill., where Mort worked in a factory. He was united in marriage to Lettie Olga Cooley Dec. 12, 1906. Nine children were born to this union. The family resided on a farm near Bellair until 1924 when they moved to Robinson, Ill., where Mort worked in a factory. In April 1930, the family moved to Lamoni and again engaged in farming and dairying until 1938 at which time he was employed by J. Arthur Lane to clerk in his grocery store. He worked there until 1943 when he purchased the Cooperative Grocery Delivery of Lamoni which he operated until 1969. During the early years of delivering groceries, he also worked as a part-time clerk in the Hy-Vee store. In April 1960, his wife Lettie preceded him in death. On Dec. 16, 1962, he and Pear Wilson Hutchcroft were united in marriage. Morton was baptized into the RLDS church in March 1906 and was ordained a priest soon afterward. He was ordained an elder in 1942. As a member of the priesthood, he performed his duties faithfully being called upon to administer to the sick and preach the smaller congregations. He was preceded in death by his sons, Rollo, Homer, Omer, and Frederick, and a sister, Lenna Edmunds Straker. He is survived by his wife, Pearl, his daughters, Nola (Mrs. George Potts), and Ruby Edmunds, Lamoni, Rozella (Mrs. Don Martin) Sea City, Ruth Judd, Lee's Summit, Mo., Betty (Mrs. E.T. Apple, Norman, Okla.; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Services were held March 6 under the Direction of the Lamoni Funeral Home, from the RLDS church. Officiants were Bill Ballantyne and Dean Ballantyne. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery.
