Description	:	Luther O. Meetze, 80, of near Ballentine died at his home Thursday night. Mr. Meetze was going around the house Thursday in his usual way and went to bed as usual. Friday morning when his wife called him for breakfast she found him dead. Born in Richland county Aug. 14, 1870, Mrs. Meetze was a son of the late Robert A. and Anna M. Friday morning when his wife called him for breakfast she found him dead. Born in Richland county Aug. 14, 1870, Mrs. Meetze was a son of the late Robert A. and Anna M. Monts Meetze and had spent his entire life in the community in which he was born. He was a successful farmer and a member of Mount Olive Lutheran church at Irmo. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ida Meetze: four daughters, Mrs. Esther Corder and Mrs. Elizabeth Long of Columbia and Mrs. Rosa Long and Mrs. Agnes Long of Chapin; six sons, Wilbur Meetze of Irmo, Earl Meetze of Blythewood, Baker, Jack and Tom Meetze of Columbia; one sister, Mrs. Anna Eleazer of Orlando, Fla., and 16 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon from Mount Olive Lutheran church, Irmo, by his pastor, the Rev. Roland E. Haas. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Bennie Meetze, Elton Meetze, Floyd Meetze, Theodore Meetze, Thomas Meetze and J. A. Meetze. Honorary pallbearers will be Arthur Stack, Henry Meetze, E. A. Ballentine, Sam Bouknight, Reuben Meetze and Chal Meetze. The body will remain at the Sale Funeral home in Lexington until 2:45 Sunday afternoon at which time it will be taken to the church. © The State, Columbia, SC, 1 Jun 1950
