| Description | : | A Veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Private Harnest has five battle stars and a purple heart, from World War II. Luther served in England, Belgium, and Germany. He lost one finger of his left hand while fighting in Belgium. Honorably discharged from the Army in November, 1945, Luther later re-enlisted and in less than two months was sent to Korea. He received a decoration there for climbing up on an enemy tank and pouring gasoline down the hatch and setting fire to it. |
