Read More	Obituary states : "Born in the State of New Jersey" IT IS NOT KNOWN WHERE LUTHERAN MORRIS WAS BORN :PARENTS UNKNOWN : : No documents found to prove where in New Jesey he was born, WE DO NOT KNOW WHO HIS PARENTS WERE OR WHERE THEY CAME FROM LUTHERAN MORRIS WAS NOT FROM WOODBRIDGE NJ Lutheran Morris was in the Staten Island Militia for the British Army and all those men were from Monmouth county NJ Some children list Catherine and some Ann as the mother and wife of Lutheran Morris = and some baptisms of children say mother "Mrs Morris" OBITUARY: The Provincial Wesleyan, ran the following obituary on Monday, November 4, 1839: "Death: At Advocate Harbour on Sept 11 -Lutheran Morris, in the 100th year of his age; he was born in the State of New Jersey in 1739, and served in the British Army, during the Revolutionary War. He was one of the first settlers at Parrsboro. He enjoyed a sense of the favour of God for some years before his death, and died in joyous prospect of future glory." BRITISH ARMY : Served as a private in the 3rd Battalion of New Jersey Volunteers, a Loyalist Regiment, under Capt. David Alston and Major Robert Drummond. This Battalion was quartered on Staten Island and was made up of men from Monmouth Co., NJ**. He was listed on the roll dated Nov. 19, 1777 as being on Staten Island. He was discharged 11 Nov. 1777 by Dr. Dongean. He returned to Regiment Hospital on Staten Island in May, 1782. Reference to his service is the War of the American revolution is from the "Officers and Men New Jersey Loyalist, Rev War" page 833, " Muster Roll of Capt. David Alston's Company, 3rd Battalion, NJ Volunteers, commanded by Major Robert Drummond; Staten Island 19th Nov. 1777; Rank, Private, Name. Lutheran Morris; for waht reason absent, "Prisoner with rebels'" "The Kings Loyal Americans" by B. Wood-Holt, Canadian Facts, Evacuee List page 388 shows Lutheran Morris arrived on the 'Lord Townsend' from New Jersey to River St John, NB May 8, 1783. Also shown at same location are David Morris and Enoch Morris. In the book "Early Loyalist Saint John (July Fleet) on the ship "Lord Townsend" with 47 other adults associated with that company. The July Fleet departed New York about July 8, 1783. Luther is the only person listed in the "household" upon arrival Saint John and in a May, 1784 muster. Also see: http://www.theknowltons.com/ps04/ps04_361.html He and his wife were buried on property formerly owned by Alfred Knowlton, the Daniel Knowlton Burial Ground in West Advocate, somewhere between the beach and the home of Willard Atkinson and on the side of the road towards the beach. Luther took a rock and carved Catherine's name on it and made her headstone. It has long since disappeared. Luther was buried on the same site. T he property is now owned by William Builland. It is said that these graves were disturbed during the excavation for a new house in the late 1970's then reburied properly in the new graveyard on the hill in Advocate.
