Harris, who passed away at her home Saturday evening. Although it was known that she was in a very serious condition her death comes as a distinct shock to the entire community. Many friends will mourn with the family and will extend their most sincere sympathy in their bereavement. Obituary Luvena Ellen Cox was born July 17, 1850, near Louisville, Ky, and died at her home in Moravia, Iowa January 20, 1927, at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 12 days. On April 24, 1870, she was married to Morris Baines Harris at Moravia. Six years ago last April they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, at which time their family and relatives met to help them in honoring the day. To this union were born eleven children, two of them Samuel and Gertrude hnving died in early childhood. The husband and nine children, Eva Mathows of Moravia, Alice Phillips of Oskaloosa, Jessie Duncan of Walters, Minnesota, Orval of Voorhies, Harry of Clinton, Vergie Cobbs of Newton, Florence Burns of Des Moines, Lowell of Centerville and Burdette of Des Moines, together with four son-in-law and three daughter-in-laws and twenty grandchildren are left to mourn her departure. Also surviving her are two brothers, LeRoy Cox of Catsby, Oklahoma, and Trusten Cox of. Corydon, and three sisters Mrs. Alice Hall of Moravia, Mrs. Anna Fuller of Onawa, and Mrs. Lucy Wooster of Erie, Kansas, as well as many other relatives and friends. She had made her home in Moravia for the past 30 years and has been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for about 30 years. For several years she was a member of the Ladies Aid society, in which she took an active part" and was president at the time of her death. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and prized that membership very highly. She had been in failing health for the past 2 years and became worse about two month ago so that she had been confined to her bed since Christmas night. Her suffering was intense but throughout her sickness she was very patient, complaining very little and requiring the least attention. She was conscious until the end and knew those of the family who were at her bedside when the end came. The kindness of relatives and friends who assisted so much during her illness is greatly appreciated by the family. Funeral services were held at the home and from the Christian Church, on Monday afternoon, Jan. 31, her pastor Rev. 0. J. Fix, officiating. She had been very much interested in the new Methodist Church enterprise but did not live to see it built. She has gone from the church militant to the church triumphant. Many people were present to show their respects and the display of flowers was an evidence of much love. A mixed quartette tte composed of Forrest Main, Mary Keemer, Mrs. J. F. Albert and Dave Bishop sang apropriate songs while Mrs. Bishop accompanied at the piano. Members of the American Legion acted as pall bearers, with members of the Legion Auxiliary as honorary pall bearers. Interment was made in the Moravia Cemetery.
