Music will be furnished by Bruce Buhler as soloist, the Immaculate Conception Funeral Choir and Danielle Holmquist-Holida as organist. Luvern Joseph Miller was born to Fredrick and Mamie (Zeller) Miller on May 21, 1932 in Watertown, SD. He grew up on the family farm east of Watertown. He attended grade school in Kranzburg and then attended high school in Watertown, graduating from Watertown High School in 1950. On November 3, 1954 he married Teresa Lantsberger at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown. Together they raised six children, Deborah, Louise, Thomas, Daniel, Mark and David. His passion was farming. It began at age 12 when his father passed. He then farmed with his uncle Ed. Luvern also farmed with his sons for over 40 years. After the drought of 1976, he bought 1100 acres of irrigated land on the Crow Creek Indian Reservation near Pierre, SD. Four years later, he sold the Crow Creek land to a mint growing operation and aquired more land in the Watertown area. Luvern enjoyed farming with John Deere equipment, hunting pheasants and square dancing. He also enjoyed watching football, baseball and was a Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. Luvern was a 3rd degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus of Watertown. A special thanks to the caring staff of Stoney Brook, Jenkins and Prairie Lakes Hospice. Luvern is survived by his wife, Teresa; his children, Louise Towle, Thomas (Robin) Miller, Daniel (Melanie) Miller, Mark (Kim) Miller and David (Karri) Miller all of Watertown; his siblings, Leona Resick of St. James, MN, Sister Marietta Miller and Robert (Beverly) Miller of Watertown; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Karen Miller of Watertown; and a son-in-law, James Hoffman of Watertown. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Deborah Hoffman; one brother, William Miller; his granddaughter, Micca Deawan; a son-in-law, Pat Towle; and a brother-in-law, Vernie Resick. - Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel
