He spent his childhood in Wadena, IA., and attended school there. He married Lottie Jones of Waukon, IA. One son John, was born to them. Lyal was self-employed as a trucker and service station operator, but had his most joy in life when he was a building mover. He was a substitute mail carrier for his father, his mother, and his brother, Robert, for over 50 years. He was City Clerk of Wadena for 20 years. In 1971 he married Blanche Jennings of Volga. He was a member of the Wadena Prebyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lottie, his parents and his three sisters. He is survived by his widow, Blanche, a son, John and his wife, Mona, of Seattle, WA.; a brother, Robert, Wadena, IA., a sister, Bess of Muskegon, MI.; two stepsons, Gerald Jennings, Farmersburg, Ia. and Kenny Jennings of McGregor, Ia., two step grandchildren, David Jennings and Christine Clark and may friends and relatives. Burial ws in Wadena Cemetery.
