Lydia Allen Baker married Charles Cassius Hatcher on Feb 2nd, 1898, Highland Co, Ohio by Rev J. I. Taggart. They celebrated 61 years of marriage before his death in 1959. The couple were related through the Lucas line. They did not have children, but took in her cousin Byron Redkey (son of Dora & Dempsey S. Redkey) when his younger brother 'Little Joe' became iIl. They remained close throughout their lives. Dee was an excellent cook, housewife, quilter and dressmaker. When grand nieces were young she made them dolls' clothes and a doll sized quilt. Obit: "Mrs. Charles Hatcher Mrs. Lydia Allen Hatcher, 84, of 224 South East Street, city [Hillsboro], died Tuesday at 11 P.M. at Highlands Community Hospital after ten days illness. She was the daughter of Walker B. and Louisa Redkey Baker, and was born in Highland County July 22, 1876. Her husband, Charles Hatcher, preceded her in death, September 6, 1959. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Sadie S. McWilliams, Greenfield; Mrs. Bertha O. McLaughlin, Bainbridge Rt. 2, and Mrs. C. E. McMullen, Hillsboro; and Byron Redkey, New Vienna Rt 2, whom she raised since childhood. Funeral services will be held at 2 P. M., Saturday at Evans funeral home, in charge of Rev. Dean Montgomery, with burial to be made in Hillsboro cemetery."
