Beale Passes Away Suddenly of Heart Disease Heart disease caused the sudden death Tuesday evening at Gilman of Mrs. Lydia Beale, wife of Levi G. Beale, and a well-known resident of Gilman. Mrs. Beale died at her home at 5:30 o'clock. She had been a sufferer for three years with dropsy. Mrs. Beale was born Lydia Ann Phelon at Vincennes, Ind., March 17, 1851. She came to Montour as a girl, and before her marriage made her home with the family of John Nineman. Miss Phelon's marriage to Mr. Beale took place Oct. 11, 1869, and the couple continued to live at Montour until 1873 when they came to Gilman. Of the eight children born to Mr. and Mrs. Beale seven are living, in the persons of Edward Beale, of Dye, Neb.; Mrs. Mabel Barbary, of Gilman; Mrs. Inez Arnote, of Polo, Mo.; Mrs. Grace Reamer, Marie, and Winfred Beale, who are home, and Rupert Beale, of Maynard, Minn. The child dead was a son Ray, who died in May 1892. Mrs. Beale is also survived by seven grandchildren, and one brother, Alexander Phelon, of Los Angeles. Another brother, Philo Phelon, of Mount Carroll, Ill., died in March, 1915. Tanscribed and added by Mary (Hammill) Rund 31 Oct 2017.
